Reducing carbon emissions is more important now than ever.
With increasing legislation and emphasis being placed on lowering emissions, every business has a major responsibility to make strides towards becoming more eco-friendly.
If the needs of your organisation require you to invest in a large van then keeping the amount of unfriendly CO2 emissions down can be a challenge.
It's important that you find the right van for your operations and the environment.
To help you with making your decision, the Department for Transport's Vehicle Certification Agency has an online database which provides plenty of useful information on van models, engine sizes, gross weight and combined mpg.
We've gone through the information provided to find 3 of the most eco-friendly large vans on the market:
- The large van with the least amount of CO2 emissions is the Renault Trafic Standard Roof SWB SL27 DCI 120, which has an impressively low CO2 of 155g/km and a combined mpg of 47.9.
- Second in line for the lowest CO2 emission is the Renault Trafic Crew Van SWB SL27 DCI 120 which has a low CO2 emission of 155g/km. The Nissan NV300 Standard Roof SWB SL27 DCI 120 also has a CO2 emission of 155g/km - showing that Renault seems to be the most eco-friendly.
- The Nissan NV300 Standard Roof SWB SL27 DCI has a slightly higher CO2 emission of 160g/km, a combined mpg of 46.3 and an engine size of 1598.
Many of the large vans have a fairly low CO2 emission of between 155g/km and 170g/km, however the large van with the highest CO2 emission was the Volkswagen Crafter 2.5 TDI 88PS (Axle Ratio 5.100) which has a very large CO2 emission of 319g/km followed by the Volkswagen Crafter 2.5 TDI 88PS (Axle ratio of 4.727).
