PrintAs the company who launched the very first UK vehicle tracking app four years ago, we are looking forward to seeing the new golf app at the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) 17-20th July. ??Spectators will have access to an app which will enable them to watch live BBC coverage on their phones at the course during play. ??It's a relatively small and simple technological advancement for the sport, but one that will surely make a huge difference to the golf viewing experience, because the big challenge at any golf event is that the spectator can only be at one hole at once. ??The new app changes that.??This year's Open at Hoylake will also feature special 'bunker-cam' technology for the first time. A camera is to be deployed inside the Bobby Jones bunker by the tenth green to show close-up shots of the players in the sand. We think this a fantastic innovation, especially when you think about the potential thrills and spills that take place in the bunker. If 'bunker-cam' had been used the last time the championship came to Royal Liverpool in 2006 it would have picked up the eventual winner Tiger Woods taking two shots to escape the feared trap.
