Domino's Pizza have revolutionised their delivery service in Australia and New Zealand by allowing customers to track orders from the oven to the front door.

The company recently invested in telematics for its entire delivery fleet, a service that will go live in July for Australia, and in August for New Zealand. It has already been rolled out in test markets and the initiative has seen scores of positive feedback from customers.

But not only is customer satisfaction on the rise, the service will enhance the safety of staff and increase overall efficiency.

The data provided by telematics ensures that the delivery staff never get lost and that the distribution routes they take are the most efficient, so that orders arrive one time. If the driver unfortunately runs into any trouble (an accident) the emergency services can be given exact information of where the driver is located.

But the opportunity for Domino's Pizza customers to use the tracking system to find out exactly where their pizza is at every moment of its journey is putting the company streets ahead of competitors.

Australia and New Zealand seem to have raised the bar for everybody in the pizza delivery game. How long before we see this time of service in the United Kingdom?

It's win/win for everybody. Customers appreciate the reliability and sense of control that being able to track delivery vehicles themselves brings, and drivers benefit from the added security of knowing that their supervisors can see where they are, communicate instantly through two-way messaging, and help them out if necessary.
