In the early stages of their business, HTS faced pressure to generate cost savings and streamline operations to secure long-term success. With plans for sustainable growth and an increase in fleet size, HTS recognised the need for an effective fleet management solution that would ensure efficient, safe, and effective operations. Additionally, fostering a culture of safe driving was a key priority, making it essential to monitor driver behaviour to protect both drivers and other road users.
Since the implementation, we have increased our efficiency with better utilisation of drivers and vehicles, which has helped us save valuable money. As a result, we’ve achieved our goals of sustainably growing the business over the past year.

Solution:
HTS implemented Teletrac Navman’s award-winning DIRECTOR platform, an advanced fleet tracking system that provides transport managers with real-time data, including driver performance, through an easy-to-use interface. The Safety Analytics module within DIRECTOR was utilised to develop a driver safety programme that motivated drivers through scorecards, league tables, and 'Driver of the Month' awards. This approach not only aimed to modify driving behaviour but also sought to boost morale within the team. The solution granted HTS complete visibility over its vehicles and drivers, facilitating effective workflow management and the streamlining of operations to reduce costs.
We created an award-winning driver training programme which boosted morale as well as safety standards across the business. Through DIRECTOR, we were able to set a target of 97% for overall driving performance. This had an overwhelmingly positive impact on driver behaviour, and we are now averaging 99.47%.

The adoption of the DIRECTOR platform has led to significant achievements for HTS, highlighting the effectiveness of the solution in driving operational success.

- Environmental Recognition: In 2018, HTS received a Silver Green Apple Environment Award for ‘Environmental Best Practice’, recognising improvements made to driving styles.
- Fleet Safety Award: The company was honoured with the Gold Fleet Safety 2018 RoSPA Award, acknowledging its practices and achievements in ensuring the safety of staff and contractors while travelling.
