Challenge:

While every telematics business offers vehicle tracking, Beatties needed a partner who could help them integrate telematics hardware with their package tracking interface. This integration, which seemed relatively simple, proved challenging as many suppliers either lacked a suitable API or had an inadequate one. At the time, drivers were debriefing their jobs at the end of each shift, which did not provide customers with timely updates on delivery statuses, leading to delays in addressing issues. Beatties recognized the need for a significant change to remain competitive, as the extensive paperwork and data entry required to manage the volume of deliveries had become an operational nightmare.

Teletrac Navman stood out head and shoulders above the competition thanks to its advanced API. We immediately knew that not only was it likely to have the best solution to meet our needs, but it was a true partner in every sense of the word. It’s this sort of unrivalled customer service that as a result enables us to be a better operator.

Solution:

Teletrac Navman provided a technically advanced API that allowed Beatties to test its suitability for linking telematics hardware with the package tracking interface before formalizing a deal. Additionally, Teletrac Navman supplied its market-leading Qube 300 telematics box, forward-facing Dash Cams, and the MNAV 750 sat nav unit, which can be used as a signature capture tool outside the vehicle. Beatties also adopted Teletrac Navman’s award-winning DIRECTOR platform, an advanced fleet tracking system that offers real-time data access in an easy-to-use interface. This system provides a diverse range of information, including vehicle locations, fuel usage, and driver performance, while also assisting in cutting fuel costs, optimizing vehicle use, increasing productivity, improving driver behavior, and potentially reducing insurance premiums.

Results:

The deployment of Teletrac Navman’s solutions has led to significant advancements for Beatties. By streamlining processes and improving visibility, the company has been able to adapt more effectively to the demands of the logistics industry. The key outcomes include:

  1. Real-Time Job Debriefing: Drivers can now debrief each job in real time, updating both internal systems and customer portals within 30 seconds of delivery, significantly improving visibility for all parties.
  2. Reduced Paperwork and Increased Focus: The system has alleviated the burden of paperwork for drivers, allowing them to focus their shifts on deliveries rather than administrative tasks.
  3. Enhanced Fleet Management: The API integration allows for tracking of vehicle mileage, alerting management when vehicles are due for renewal or reassignment, and the addition of forward-facing dash cams has reduced insurance premiums by providing clear evidence in case of incidents.

Our drivers are now able to debrief each job in real time, which not only updates our systems, but also the customer portal as well, giving all parties maximum visibility of the status of each job.
