Challenge:

Aggregate Industries, operating a fleet across 60 quarries in the UK, faced significant challenges due to the lack of visibility regarding the location of its vehicles. Prior to implementing Teletrac Navman’s solution, the company relied on a mobile app tracking system that required haulier drivers to log in each morning. This dependency resulted in unreliable and inaccurate data, leaving transport managers, planning staff, and clients unaware of vehicle and driver positions at any given time. Additionally, with health and safety being a top priority, there was a pressing need for tools that would enable the monitoring and improvement of driver behaviour, ensuring the safety of drivers and colleagues on site.

Our partnership with Teletrac Navman has provided us with the data we just didn’t have before, enabling us to better our customer service offering, and positively impacting the business as a whole. On the back of this success, we are now looking to implement the software across other vehicles within our fleet.

- Russell Turner, Regional Logistics Manager

Solution:

To address these challenges, Aggregate Industries adopted Teletrac Navman’s award-winning DIRECTOR platform, an advanced fleet tracking system that provides transport managers with real-time access to vehicle tracking and driver performance data through a user-friendly interface. The M-Nav 950 communications device was also fitted in 1,160 of Aggregate Industries’ LGV vehicles. This solution provided the company with invaluable data, including the precise location of each vehicle and insights into driver styles. With 100% of its fleet comprising sub-contracted vehicles, the ability to monitor driver behaviour enabled Aggregate Industries to encourage haulage companies to motivate drivers using scorecards and league tables. Additionally, the ongoing support from Teletrac Navman’s Professional Services team ensured that Aggregate Industries maximised its return on investment.

The ability to monitor driver behaviour has also promoted a safer driving culture and positively affected driver morale, with several reports of improved standards.

Results:

The implementation of the DIRECTOR platform has generated significant benefits for Aggregate Industries, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution in driving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  1. Total Fleet Visibility: Aggregate Industries now enjoys complete visibility of its 1,250 vehicles, facilitating accurate tracking and management of fleet operations.
  2. Improved Client Satisfaction: The capability to share fleet visibility data with clients has resulted in a significant increase in customer satisfaction, as clients are better informed about the status of their deliveries.
  3. Boost in Staff Morale and Driving Standards: The introduction of quarterly reward programmes for drivers and transport managers has resulted in higher morale among staff and an uptick in driving standards.
