Last week it was announced the government is to invest ??9.5m in a bid to encourage fleet operators to purchase and manage low carbon medium and heavy goods vehicles.

The Low Carbon Truck Demonstration Trial is looking for SMEs and multinational operators to participate; no matter the fleet size each candidate will receive a maximum grant of ??750k. The aim of the "green truck fund" is to help fleet operators launch and run their fleets with alternative dual fuel heavy goods vehicles, electric and hybrid commercial vehicles.

Whilst we at Navman Wireless support this scheme and believes the funding is a great platform for operators to acquire green vehicles, lower their carbon footprint and their cost base, it's equally important to recognise fleet owners who have heavily invested in technology to help reduce the negative impact their fleet has on the environment.

For this reason we believe that similar schemes should be implemented for businesses that actively seek out and invest in vehicle management technology designed to moderate their fleet's emissions into the atmosphere.

Please voice your opinion below and vote in our poll ??? should a rewards scheme be in place for businesses who invest in vehicle management technology? Have you say below!
